New York, NY (Sports Network) - Chicago Sky forward Elena Delle Donne and
Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore have been selected as the WNBA Eastern and
Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played from
Delle Donne captured the East's award for the third time in her outstanding rookie season after averaging 21.0 points and hitting 9-of-12 shots from 3- point range over three games for the conference-leading Sky. She hit four treys in a 19-point, nine-rebound effort in Chicago's 77-61 win at Connecticut this past Friday, then followed with a career-high 32 points to lead the way in an overtime victory over Minnesota two days later.
Moore led the West with a 23.0 points-per-game average and added a league-best 3.3 steals over three games for the week, highlighted by a 26-point, 10- rebound, six-assist performance against San Antonio on Tuesday that extended the Lynx' win streak to 10 games. The third-year pro then amassed 24 points and four steals in a loss to Washington on Thursday.
Others considered for this week's award were Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry, New York's Cappie Pondexter, Washington's Crystal Langhorne, Tulsa's Elizabeth Cambage and Los Angeles' Jantel Lavender.
