U.S. Under-18s come back from 11 down to win gold

The road to gold took a turn the U-18 National Team didn’t expect on Sunday as Brazil jumped out to a double-digit lead in the gold medal game of the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico.

Brazil opened the contest with a 9-0 run holding the U.S. scoreless until the 6:15 mark, and finishing off the first quarter with a 16-7 lead.  Team USA, who had never trailed for more than a minute or by more than three points in the entire tournament, continued to struggle in the second quarter when Brazil went up by 11 points.

Team USA thumps Canada, now after seventh FIBA Americas' title

Team USA continued its journey toward a seventh Under-18 FIBA Americas Championship gold with a 95-46 win over Canada. The win puts the Americans one game away from the title.

“I think it’s great that we’re into the finals and we get to play for the gold,” said Tennessee-bound Bashaara Graves, who had 14 points.  “It’s a wonderful accomplishment.”

Under-18s rout Colombia, qualify for 2013 World Championships

A 19-point performance by Alexis Prince helped the United States advance to the semifinal round of the U18 FIBA Americas tournament after a 87-36 win over Colombia on Friday in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. The win also qualified Team USA for the 2013 U19 World Championship in Lithuania next July.

ORLANDO, FL - To say the U18 National Team dominated in Thursday’s exhibition game against Brazil would be an understatement.  The U.S. held Brazil scoreless until the 7:56 mark of the second quarter en route to a 97-36 victory hosted at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando.

USA Basketball Training Camp Scrimmage: U18 comes from behind to defeat U17

ORLANDO, FL –Breanna Stewart (Cicero-North Syracuse H.S.), the USA Basketball player of the Year, took over the fourth quarter to lead the U18 National Team to a 73-66 come from behind win over the U17 World Championship Team.

The USA Basketball Training Camp scrimmage featured eight 2012 High School All Americans, and over a dozen players who will likely be 2013 All-Americans. The rare head-to-head competition between the nation’s top talent was definitely entertaining as both teams tuned up for today’s games against Brazil at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports.

Three players who didn't make the U17 World Championship Team found redemption today when their number was called for the U18 National Team.  Allisha Gray (Washington County HS), Kendall Cooper (St. Anthony H.S.) and Jannah Tucker (New Town H.S.) all survived an even stiffer group of competition to make the U18 National Team roster of 12.

McDonald's Girls' High School All-American Teams Announced

The McDonald's All American Games unveiled the 24 top high school seniors named to the official rosters for the 11th Annual McDonald's All American Girls Game, on Thursday.

The McDonald's All-American Games for both boys and girls will be played on March 28 at Chicago's United Center. The Girls' Game tips off at 6:30 p.m. CT, March 28, followed by the Boys' Game, scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. CT. Both games will broadcast live on ESPNU.
