2013 McDonald's All-American rosters announced

Today the McDonalds All-American Games unveiled the rosters for the 12th annual McDonald's All-American Girls Team.  The game will feature the first ever father/daughter duo with Taya Reimer (Hamilton Southeastern – Indianapolis, Ind.), daughter of Ben Davis who was a McDonald's All-American in 1991.

NAPLES, Fla. -- One thing was clear even before the opening tip: With defending champion Whitney Young (Chicago, Ill.), the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, ousted in the semis, leaving No. 19 North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) to face unranked Hathaway Brown (Shaker Heights, Ohio) in the title game, a new champion would be crowned Saturday at the 14th annual Naples Holiday Shootout.

NAPLES, Fla. -- The final four of the Naples Holiday Shootout will feature three nationally ranked girls' high-school basketball teams, plus a fourth team that, while not currently ranked, has won four consecutive state championships.

U.S. Under-18s come back from 11 down to win gold

The road to gold took a turn the U-18 National Team didn’t expect on Sunday as Brazil jumped out to a double-digit lead in the gold medal game of the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico.

Brazil opened the contest with a 9-0 run holding the U.S. scoreless until the 6:15 mark, and finishing off the first quarter with a 16-7 lead.  Team USA, who had never trailed for more than a minute or by more than three points in the entire tournament, continued to struggle in the second quarter when Brazil went up by 11 points.

Team USA thumps Canada, now after seventh FIBA Americas' title

Team USA continued its journey toward a seventh Under-18 FIBA Americas Championship gold with a 95-46 win over Canada. The win puts the Americans one game away from the title.

“I think it’s great that we’re into the finals and we get to play for the gold,” said Tennessee-bound Bashaara Graves, who had 14 points.  “It’s a wonderful accomplishment.”

Lexie Brown leads A.O.T. Lady Rebels to Basketball on the Bayou title

NEW ORLEANS -- “We were due” said A.O.T. Lady Rebels head coach Omar Cooper about his team’s 64-58 win over Essence Purple to win the prestigious Basketball on the Bayou championship. 

In the past two weeks, Cooper's team had made it to the final four of the Battle in the Boro and AAU Nationals. This weekend, the Lady Rebels got past a tough DFW T-Jack Elite squad in the semifinals when Diamond DeShields dished the ball to Te’a Cooper for backdoor layup to win the game by one point.

ORLANDO, FL - To say the U18 National Team dominated in Thursday’s exhibition game against Brazil would be an understatement.  The U.S. held Brazil scoreless until the 7:56 mark of the second quarter en route to a 97-36 victory hosted at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando.
