WBCA names 2013 All-American Team

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the 20 player roster for the 22nd WBCA All-American Game presented by Nike to be played on April 6  in New Orleans.  For the fourth consecutive year, the game will be played on the official NCAA Women’s Final Four court. The roster will be divided into two 10-player teams for the game, which will be played according to NCAA rules. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. CT.

UNC, Duke top the 2013 recruiting rankings

Now we know why Maryland is leaving the ACC -- North Carolina and Duke have the top two 2013 recruiting classes and on paper, look to be national championship mix for some time to come.

2012 Battle in the Boro

Gray is like a baseball closer -- she will let others on her team set the pace early and then step up her involvement late to seal the victory. Perhaps more drive-oriented, her perimeter shooting continues to improve. For college, she has made an oral commitment to North Carolina.

The weather just south of Nashville was dreary and damp for most of the four days of the eighth annual Battle in the Boro – and maybe the weather was trying to tell us something.

Gray leads Metros to Battle of the Boro title

The college viewing calendar is chock full of big events, but there’s no question that Tennessee’s Battle in the Boro is one of the biggest – and led by tournament MVP Allisha Gray, the Georgia Metros 16 Nike outlasted the Tennessee Flight Silver, 59-51, to take the title in the elite Gold Division Monday. Of course, the Flight might have been running out of air space, as they had to go four overtimes in the quarterfinals before finally getting by Sports City U, 75-71.

ORLANDO, FL - To say the U18 National Team dominated in Thursday’s exhibition game against Brazil would be an understatement.  The U.S. held Brazil scoreless until the 7:56 mark of the second quarter en route to a 97-36 victory hosted at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando.

Three players who didn't make the U17 World Championship Team found redemption today when their number was called for the U18 National Team.  Allisha Gray (Washington County HS), Kendall Cooper (St. Anthony H.S.) and Jannah Tucker (New Town H.S.) all survived an even stiffer group of competition to make the U18 National Team roster of 12.

Participants announced for USA Basketball’s 2012 women’s U17 World Championship Team Trials

USA Basketball announced thirty-five top prep players have accepted invitations to participate in the 2012 U17 World Championship Team Trials being held in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 17-20.

Thirteen players return from previous USA Basketball gold medal teams including 2 time gold medalist Diamond Deshields of Norcross High School (Norcross, Ga.) who played for team USA on the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship.
