Participants announced for USA Basketball’s 2012 women’s U17 World Championship Team Trials

USA Basketball announced thirty-five top prep players have accepted invitations to participate in the 2012 U17 World Championship Team Trials being held in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 17-20.
Thirteen players return from previous USA Basketball gold medal teams including 2 time gold medalist Diamond Deshields of Norcross High School (Norcross, Ga.) who played for team USA on the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship.
Also returning are all 12 members of the gold medal 2011 USA U16 National Team. Highlighting this group is Recee’ Caldwell of Claudia Taylor Johnson High School (San Antonio, Texas), Sydney Umeri of The Lovett School (Acworth, Ga.), and Rebecca Greenwell of Owensboro Catholic High School (Owesnboro, Ky.) Below is the complete list of players attending.
The USA will look to defend its 2010 inaugural U17 title in the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship on Aug. 17-26 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The team is coached by Jill Rankin Schneider (Monterey H.S., Texas) Gail Hook (Monarch H.S., Colo.) and Letitia Hughley (Mott C.C., Mich.)
