Highlights of top 2013 recruit Kaela Davis of Buford High School. The 6-1 guard committed to Georgia Tech.
Kaela Davis, the No. 3 ranked player in the 2013 Full Court Fresh 50, will not finish her high school season at Buford, according to a report in the Gwinnett Post. It is unclear why the 6-1 guard is no longer playing for the Lady Wolves but Davis, who was just named a WBCA All-American and is likely to be named a McDonald's All-American on Feb. 14, has not suited up or been on the bench for the Lady Wolves' last three games.
Buford head coach Gene Durden would not confirm or deny if Davis was still on the team saying, "At this time, I can not comment on the status and situation with Kaela."
Full Court also attempted to contact the Davis family, but there was no response.
Davis is the daughter of former NBA player Antonio Davis who played 12 seasons in the league.
Davis' last game was on Jan. 26 in a 44-40 loss to rival Wesleyan High School. The top-rated senior, who signed with Georgia Tech, was part of Buford's state championship team in 2011 and helped Buford return to the championship game in 2012, in which the Lady Wolves lost to Lovett High School. Buford is 18-4 overall this season and has won the last three game without Davis.
