Brittany Hunter tops the 2003 list

With this report, Full Court Press begins a series of rankings of high school players across the nation. Our analyst is Jerry Gatewood, whose daughter, Sa'de Wiley Gatewood, is one of the top players in the Class of 2004. Gatewood has his own Southern California based-AAU program, but these rankings are untainted by regional or sponsorship bias. (Gatewood was affiliated with adidas, but dropped that association this past summer.)

That said, there is plenty of room for disagreement in any such list, and we hope you'll take in the spirit in which it's offered: One very well-informed man's opinion. Some will say that number 20 should be number 13, and vice versa, and some will wonder how their favorite superstar didn't make the list. But this ranking is the result of hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of observation, and only includes the best of the best. The many very, very good players who aren't named shouldn't worry -- they can prove us all wrong when they go off to college.
