UConn's Tina Charles (Jamaica, New York) got out to an early start, putting up her first four points less than a minute into the USA's gold-medal match against Russia at the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia yesterday. That set the tone for the rest of the game, as Charles poured it on with a 28-point, 18-board double-double and Team USA rode her coattails to an 83-64 drubbing of Russia and the gold medal.
Australia beat the Czech Republic, 88-77, to take the bronze.
