COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The U.S. U17 women today learned their preliminary round opponents for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship, where they will be looking to capture their third-straight FIBA U17 World Championship gold medal. The tournament will be played June 28-July 6 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
FIBA conducted the draw in Bratislava, and the USA was placed into Group D, where it will face China (FIBA Asia silver medalist) on June 28, France (FIBA Europe fifth place) on June 29 and Mali (FIBA Africa gold medalist) on July 1.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) today named A'ja Wilson of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, S.C., as the 2014 WBCA High School Player of the Year.
