Lynx begin title defense with win over Mercury

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - In a rematch of last year's WNBA Western Conference final, the defending champion Minnesota Lynx defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 105-83, on Sunday at Target Center.

U17 World Championship Team roster announced

The final roster for the 2012 U17 World Championship Team has been set with a mix of experience and first time players.

"It feels great; I’m really excited", said Kai James (William T Dwyer High School) who is one of five first time players on the squad. "It’s very surprising. It shows that all your work, your hard work in the gym, it pays off."

We all envy 16- and 17-year-olds for how efficiently their bodies function. They eat everything, they sleep like proverbial logs, they recover from minor injuries almost instantaneously, and their bounceback time from a game is maybe an hour.

As I tell my high school players when they complain about wind sprints, “You’re in the prime of your life. You can complain when you get old.”
