Shock F Jones expecting first child, will miss 2012 season

Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Tulsa Shock forward Tiffany Jones will miss the 2012 season as she and her husband are expecting their first child.

It took eight championship game tries but the Insell family finally has lifted the monkey off their collective backs. Thanks to the combined efforts of Kaela Davis and Rebecca Greenwell (both members of the USA National U17 team) and a solid supporting cast, the Tennessee Flight Silver coached by Tom Insell emerged from a talented field to claim first place in the Gold Division of the premier section of the Nike Boo Williams Invitational held April 20-22 in Hampton, Virginia.

Tennessee adds Kyra Elzy to coaching staff

Former Lady Vol Kyra Elzy has accepted a position as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Tennessee under new head coach Holly Warlick.  Today Elzy announced her resignation as the associate head coach for the Kentucky women's basketball team to accept the new postion with the Vols. 

What Sophomore Slump? UConn's Stefanie Dolson and Bria Hartley finish strong

Center Stefanie Dolson and point guard Bria Hartley, fellow New Yorkers, played on high school all-star and USA Basketball teams together before they entered UConn in the fall of 2010.   The duo was thrust into starting positions as freshmen and both made solid impacts over the season helping lead UConn to a 36-2 record.  Hartley ended up making Full Court’s 2011 Freshman All-American first team while Dolson made the second team.

Asjha Jones rounds out 2012 U.S. Olympic Team roster

With Brittney Griner out of the hunt, USA Basketball turned to the UConn connection -- and to veteran Asjha Jones -- to fill the final spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Women's Basketball Team roster, the organization announced today. Jones, was selected by the USA Basketball Women's National Team Player Selection Committee, approved by the USA Basketball Board of Directors and is pending final approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Michigan hires Barnes Arico to lead women's program

Ann Arbor, MI (Sports Network) - St. John's women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico has been hired as Kevin Borseth's successor at Michigan, announced director of athletics Dave Brandon on Friday.
