Texan Caldwell goes "home" to UCLA

Recee' Caldwell may be known as the best 2014 point guard in the state of Texas, but let's not confuse things, she's really from California -- so today's announcement that she committed UCLA is a homecoming of sorts.

"I'm going to be a Bruin and I'm just so happy about it," says Caldwell, who says she broke the news to UCLA coach Cori Close last night on the phone.

Holdsclaw, facing multiple felony charges, scheduled to appear in court on Friday

Former WNBA great Chamique Holdsclaw is scheduled to return to court at 9 a.m. Friday facing multiple criminal charges involving an alleged attack on the Tulsa Shock’s Jennifer Lacy. Holdsclaw, an Olympic gold-medalist (Sydney 2000) and six-time WNBA All-Star has been free on $100,000 bond and subject to ankle-bracelet monitoring and a court order prohibiting any contact with Lacy since her initial appearance two weeks ago in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta.

Locals, underclass players star at Tennessee Turkey Jamm

It was a joyous Thanksgiving weekend for several teams from Tennessee as local schools Blackman, Oakland and Riverdale combined for a perfect five-win record against quality out-of-state opposition at the Tennessee Turkey Jamm in Murfreesboro.  Several underclass prospects raised their recruiting stock and a couple of future high level BCS players showed off for the first time as high school freshmen.  Except for a few seniors, star status this weekend belonged to their underclass players.

The Sun's firing of Thibault is a surprise to players

In a move that shocked fans and players throughout the league, the Connecticut Sun fired head coach Mike Thibault, the WNBA's longest-standing active coach and one of the most successful coaches in league history, on Tuesday. Thibault's long-time coaching assistants Bernadette Mattox and Scott Hawk received their pink slips along with him, according to a statement released by the team.
