College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Courtney Walker posted 19 points and
eight rebounds as the Texas A&M Aggies defeated North Dakota, 70-55, in the
first round of the NCAA Tournament's Lincoln Region at Reed Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for third-seeded Texas A&M (25-8) were Tori Scott and Karla Gilbert with 14 points apiece, the latter clearing eight rebounds and blocking five shots.
North Dakota (22-10) was paced by Madi Buck who came up a rebound shy of a double-double as she tallied a game-high 22 points in the losing effort.
North Dakota led momentarily in the first half, but the team ended up shooting just 29.6 percent from the floor in the period, yet still only trailed by four at the break, 30-26.
Unfortunately, the second half was only slightly better for UND as the team shot 2-of-11 behind the 3-point line, finishing the night 5-of-15 on the perimeter in the double-digit setback.
Texas A&M, which forced 16 turnovers and held a 49-36 rebounding edge, will be back in action on Tuesday night versus a James Madison squad that upset Gonzaga earlier on Sunday.
