Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Meighan Simmons had 31 points and seven
rebounds to lead No. 10 Tennessee to a 72-67 victory over LSU on Thursday.

Cierra Burdick tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Volunteers (23-5, 12-3 SEC), who have won nine of their last 10. Isabelle Harrison contributed a double-double of her own with 11 points and 11 boards.

Jeanne Kenney netted 21 and Theresa Plaisance had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Tigers (18-10, 7-8), who have lost five straight.

The Lady Tigers opened the second half with a 10-3 run to cut their deficit to 14 points in just 4 1/2 minutes. LSU later went on a 21-6 tear and knotted the contest at 59 apiece with 3 1/2 minutes on the clock.

Simmons and Burdick both knocked down a pair of free throws before Kenney responded with a layup to pull LSU within 63-61. Simmons came right back with a layup, which Kenney followed up with a pair from the stripe. However, Simmons nailed a trey with just under a minute remaining to put the game away.

Tennessee flew out of the gate with a 17-4 burst through the first 7:23. The Lady Volunteers led by as many as 21 in the first half and carried that margin into the break, 42-21.
